breaking up with brooklyn is hard to do

laura and i  have had to say too many goodbyes in the last month, and although thats our MO, it isn't ever easy. naturally, i'm sad to leave our friends and co-workers, but i expected those goodbyes, anticipated them, and acted accordingly. other unforeseen goodbyes snuck up on me- especially in my neighborhood. in the last few days alone i've said goodbye to my favorite lady at the laundromat, the clerks of the delis and bodegas i frequent, the cashier of the chinese restaurant, and the owner of the pizza shop two doors down. i had to say so long to fort greene park, the brooklyn bridge and the g train. i had one last trip to ikea with jaime, for swedish meatballs of course! laura and i watched one last episode of ladette to lady at emily's house (bottoms?!), and had one last cigarette on the roof with carrie, david, and rothko. i took one last walk through clinton hill with my boyfriend, and then i had to kiss him goodbye as well. leaving new york is bittersweet- so much to miss, but so many new adventures to be had.
on that note, we uhauled ourselves out of brooklyn today, and i'm writing this post from a days inn in winchester, va. the entire moving-out process went so smoothly, and i thank everyone who helped make that possible (except laura). i need to sleep now, as we have a lovely 10 hour drive awaiting us in the morning. bonne nuit, nicolette

hmm...no thanks to me, huh? I seem to remember SOMEONE driving a 14ft. U-Haul truck about 90% of the time. - Laura
